Pixel Data Mode
This mode extracts information about individual pixels from the image. Each row in the Excel file represents a single pixel, with data including:

For large images, you can adjust the sampling rate to extract data from every Nth pixel, creating a more manageable dataset while maintaining representative information.
Color Analysis Mode
This mode analyzes the color distribution in the image, counting occurrences of each unique color and providing detailed information about color frequency and characteristics:
- RGB and alpha values for each unique color
- Pixel count and percentage for each color
- Luminance value for brightness measurement
- Brightness category (dark, mid-tone, light, very-light)
- Option to limit output to most frequent colors

Excel Format Differences
Our tool offers both XLSX and XLS format options, each with different characteristics:

If you're analyzing large images with many pixels, be aware that Excel has row limitations. XLSX can handle up to 1 million rows, while XLS is limited to 65,536 rows. For very large images, use the sampling option to reduce the data size or choose the Color Analysis mode instead of Pixel Data.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the maximum image size this tool can handle?
The tool accepts JPG images up to 10MB in size. However, for large images (high resolution), we recommend using the sampling option in Pixel Data mode to extract a representative subset of pixels rather than every pixel. This improves performance and creates more manageable Excel files. Remember that Excel has row limitations (1 million for XLSX, 65,536 for XLS), so very large images may need significant sampling.
How does color-coding work in the Excel file?
When color-coding is enabled, cells containing hex color values will have their background color set to match the actual color value. This creates a visual reference directly in your spreadsheet. The text color automatically adjusts between black and white based on the background brightness for optimal readability. This feature works best in modern Excel versions and may have limited functionality in some spreadsheet applications.
What's the difference between Pixel Data and Color Analysis modes?
Pixel Data mode extracts information about individual pixels, creating one row per pixel (or sampled pixel). This provides detailed spatial information but can generate very large files for high-resolution images. Color Analysis mode focuses on unique colors found in the image, counting their frequency and providing statistics. This creates a much smaller dataset focused on color distribution rather than pixel positions, making it ideal for color studies and palette extraction.
