How It Works
This tool uses the powerful font recognition engine from WhatFontIs.com. When you upload an image:
- The image is sent securely to our server.
- Our server forwards the image data to the WhatFontIs API, asking it to identify potential fonts.
- The WhatFontIs API analyzes the characters in your image and compares them against its vast database of over 990,000 fonts (both free and commercial).
- A list of the closest matching fonts is returned and displayed here, along with preview images and links to view them on WhatFontIs.com.
Please note that font identification from images can be complex. Image quality, text distortion, and font uniqueness can affect accuracy. The results show the most likely matches found by the API.
Important Considerations
Font Licensing
This tool helps you *identify* fonts. If a commercial font is identified, you must purchase a valid license from the respective foundry or vendor before using it in your projects. This tool does not provide font files or licenses. You can use the "View" link to learn more about each font's license on WhatFontIs.com or the foundry's site.
Image Quality Matters
For best results, use clear, high-resolution images where the text is horizontal and characters are reasonably separated. Avoid heavy distortion, very small text, or blurry images. Cropping the image to focus on the text you want to identify can also improve accuracy.
Free API Usage
This tool utilizes the free tier of the WhatFontIs API, which allows up to 200 identifications per day. For personal use, a link back to WhatFontIs.com is required (included below the upload section). If you require higher limits or commercial use, please contact WhatFontIs directly.
