Blur Types Explained
Gaussian Blur
The most common and natural-looking blur effect. It creates a smooth, even blur by weighting pixels according to a Gaussian distribution (bell curve). This blur gives a natural, soft focus effect and is ideal for creating depth-of-field effects or softening images.
Box Blur
A simpler and faster blur algorithm that averages all pixels within a square box. While less refined than Gaussian blur, it's computationally efficient and works well for heavy blurring or when performance is a priority.
Stack Blur
An optimized blur algorithm that approximates Gaussian blur with better performance. It produces high-quality results similar to Gaussian blur but processes faster, making it ideal for high-resolution images or when working with limited resources.
Motion Blur
Creates a directional blur that simulates movement. By specifying an angle, you can make static objects appear as if they're moving. Perfect for adding dynamism to images, creating action effects, or simulating camera movement during exposure.
Frequently Asked Questions
What image formats are supported?
The tool supports common image formats including PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP for input. You can export your blurred image in PNG (best for transparency), JPG (smaller file size), or WebP (best balance of quality and size).
Is there a file size limit?
Yes, the maximum file size is 10MB. This ensures the tool performs well in your browser. For larger images, consider resizing them before uploading.
Can I blur just parts of an image?
The current version applies blur to the entire image. If you need to blur specific areas, we recommend using image editing software like GIMP or Photoshop that allows for layer masks and selective editing.
Are my images stored on your server?
No. All image processing happens locally within your web browser. Your images are never uploaded to any server, ensuring complete privacy and security.
Which blur type should I choose?
Gaussian blur is best for natural, soft focus effects. Box blur is faster but less refined. Stack blur offers a good balance of quality and performance. Motion blur is ideal for creating a sense of movement or action in static images.
