How It Works
This calculator determines the number of business days between a specified start date and end date, inclusive of both dates.
- Select Dates: Choose your start and end dates using the calendar or by typing in `YYYY-MM-DD`, `DD/MM/YYYY`, or `MM/DD/YYYY` format.
- Choose Country (Optional): If you need to exclude public holidays, select the relevant country from the dropdown. This uses the free Nager.Date API. If no country is selected, only weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) are excluded.
- Calculate: Click the "Calculate Business Days" button.
- View Results: The tool displays the total days, business days (weekdays minus 'Public' type holidays), weekend days, and the count/list of public holidays found on weekdays within the period.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the start and end dates included in the calculation?
Yes, the calculation is inclusive. Both the start date and the end date are counted if they fall within the criteria (e.g., are business days).
What days are considered weekends?
Saturdays and Sundays are considered weekend days and are excluded from the business day count by default.
Which public holidays are excluded?
When a country is selected, the calculator fetches holiday data from the Nager.Date API. It specifically excludes holidays marked with the type "Public". Other types like "Bank", "School", "Observance" etc., returned by the API are currently *not* automatically excluded from the business day count in this tool.
What if a public holiday falls on a weekend?
If a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it's already excluded as a weekend day. This calculator specifically counts and lists holidays that occur on a weekday (Monday-Friday) and are marked as "Public" by the Nager.Date API, as these are the ones impacting the standard business day count.
How up-to-date is the holiday data?
The Nager.Date API aims to provide current holiday information. Our server caches the data for 24 hours to improve performance and reduce load on their API. While generally accurate, always verify critical dates with official sources if absolute certainty is required.
Can I calculate for specific states or regions within a country?
This tool currently uses country-level holiday data from the Nager.Date API. It does not support fetching holidays for specific subdivisions (states, provinces, regions) even if the underlying API provides that data for some countries (like US, CA, DE). For highly specific regional calculations, consult official local calendars.
